Practice Merger Update
We communicated with you earlier in the year regarding a proposed merger between Linthorpe Surgery and Oakfield Medical Practice.
Following feedback and consultation the go ahead was given for the two practices to merge. This process has taken considerably longer than anticipated but we have been given approval and an official date for the merger.
From Thursday 8th February 2018 the two practices will join to become Linthorpe Surgery.
Contact telephone numbers remain the same for each site (Linthorpe 01642 856066 and North Ormesby 01642 244990), however you will be able to request appointments at either site so please note carefully any appointment details and let us know if this is not convenient for you. Clinical, reception and administrative staff will be working across both sites.
One of the concerns raised in the consultations and through the questionnaires was the fact that there would be a merged practice list of 18000+ patients but still the same amount of clinical staff. We can inform you that this was taken on board and further GP’s, nurse practitioners and an advanced physiotherapist have been employed, you will start to notice that reception staff will navigate your care to the most appropriate service, as quite often you will not need to see a GP first to be referred to these in-house services (please see details on care navigation for more information). The new staff will be joining Linthorpe Surgery over the coming months and we hope that they will be firmly established by the merger date.
Appointments following the merger will be available to book up to 4 weeks in advance, however patients with urgent problems requesting same day appointments will be processed through care navigation where possible, otherwise they will be given a telephone consultation with the doctor.
There is much to organise prior to the merger and following, however please be assured that your care will not be compromised, continue to contact the surgery’s as you would normally and we will inform you of any changes.
Practice Merger Further Update
Due to the merge of our clinical and IT systems we will not have access to our computer system on the afternoon of Wednesday 7th February. As such we will only be dealing with medically urgent calls. We will also be staggering the start of our clinics on Thursday 8th February, this will be to ensure that the systems have merged correctly, could we ask that you only call in at 8am if it is something medically urgent that cannot wait until later in the day.
