Linthorpe Surgery has received confirmation that we are now a Veteran Accredited Practice
Thanks to Dr Emily Cockroft as the Veteran Lead for her hard work in achieving this.
The Armed Forces Covenant is “a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.”
The practice will aim to identify all military veterans. This is to ensure they can access appropriate services and are prioritised when referred on to secondary care. They also have access to OpCourage which is a specialised mental health service designed specifically for Veterans as well as a wealth of other support networks.
We should be identifying veterans on registration however we are also encouraging staff to ask the question “Have you ever served in the Armed Forces?”
